uRSS 2.1 and beyond

uRSS 2.1.1 is out for iOS/iPadOS. This release contains ‘quality of life’ updates. A lot of UI tweaks and bug fixes. While that doesn’t sound sexy, it lays a lot of the groundwork for the updates that follow.

Mac uRSS 2.2 Watch App

uRSS 2.2 is in testing now and should be submitted to the app store in the next few days. The big banner feature of this update is Apple Watch support. This has been one of the more difficult features to implement, as testing has required using the app in all different sorts of conditions - with wifi, without, for instance.

The other big change of this release was the redesign of the compact player. I wasn’t a fan of the original implementation, where the miniplayer went to a small knub of a player when viewing list or article views.

If the plans hold, uRSS 2.3 will introduce support for using feed services like FeedBin, NewsBlur and FreshRSS. I’m trying to get support setup for Inoreader and Feedly, but you have to be granted access to their API and so far my requests are going unanswered.

Work continues on the Mac version, which I’m intending to roll out in September. I’ll probabably start sharing TestFlight builds in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested, send us a message.
